APASL 2021 Young Investigator’s Award
The purpose of the Young Investigator Award (YIA) is to stimulate interest in research training by rewarding outstanding examples of excellence amongst those involved in research training in the early stages of his/hercareer.
Application Requirements:
- Applicant must be in early stages of his/her career i.e. up to five (5) years following the completion of training in hepatology.
- Applicant must be from nationalities of Asia Pacific countries.
- Applicant must submit the training certification and curriculum vitae during online abstract submission.
- Applicant must be first author of abstract and a registered participant of the congress.
- The shortlisted oral abstract must be presented by applicant during the meeting.
Selection Process:
- Applicant should select ‘YIA Application’ during submission of abstract for oral presentation.
- Shortlisted abstracts are based on scores assigned by the Abstract Selection Committee and all successful applicants (up to six (6) best YIA papers) will be notified.
- The Abstract Selection Committee’s decision is final.
- Each awardee who presented at APASL 2021 will be given USD 1,000 cash award.
AASLD-APASL Research Methodology Virtual Workshop

Synopsis:
This Joint Workshop is dedicated for clinical research in hepatology to achieve the following objectives:
- To showcase the importance of structured methodology education in clinical hepatology research in the region
- To bring together junior members of the Asia-Pacific hepatology community with experts for close interaction and education
Application requirements:
- Fellow in training in Hepatology or Gastroenterology with interest in liver disease
- PhDs and post-doctorate fellows aged 40 years or younger
- Junior faculty members (instructor and assistant professor level) age 40 years of younger
- Able to submit an abstract for consideration
- Able to participate in the workshop scheduled on 4 Feb 2021, with fluency in English
- A letter of recommendation from their supervisor
- Must be a registered participant of APASL 2021
Selection Process:
- Applicant should select ‘AASLD-APASL Workshop Application’ during submission of abstract for oral presentation.
- Shortlisted abstracts are based on scores assigned by the Workshop Selection Committee and all successful applicants (up to thirty (30) best papers) will be notified.
- The Workshop Selection Committee’s decision is final.
- Application is non-transferable.
Program Agenda
- The workshop includes didactic sessions and break-out sessions.
- The didactic sessions will cover basic skills needed for clinical research and research writing.
- The breakout sessions will utilize hands-on teaching based on participant presentation.
- Participating fellows are required to present their papers, which will be constructively critiqued by AASLD and APASL Faculty in small group setting of 5 to 6 participants per group.
- Topics include advice on publication and academic career in Asia.
Travel Grants
These Travel Grants are to provide the opportunity for clinicians and scientists in the early stages of his/her career to broaden their education and experience in the field of hepatology by attending APASL 2021.
Application Requirements:
- Applicant must be less than 40 years of age at the time of application.
- Applicant must be from nationalities of Asia Pacific countries.
- Applicant must submit the training certification and curriculum vitae during online abstract submission.
- Applicant must be first author of abstract and a registered participant of the congress.
- The shortlisted abstract must be presented by applicant during the meeting.
Description:
- Priority will be given to applicants from countries with limited opportunities to attend education and training activities.
- Travel grant is non-transferable.
