A/Prof Chong graduated from the University of Sydney with MBBS (First class honours). He did his general surgery training at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore and Tufts New England Medical Center, Boston. Upon being awarded the John Homan’s fellowship, he pursued his subspecialty training in vascular and endovascular surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School. He is double boarded by the American Board of Surgery in general surgery and vascular surgery. He was then recruited to Brown Alpert School of Medicine to develop their vascular and endovascular surgery program at The Miriam and Rhode Island Hospitals. After four successful years of practice, he has relocated to Singapore with his family to be at SGH.

His clinical interests are in all aspects of vascular and endovascular surgery including carotid artery surgery and stenting, aortic aneurysm repair (open and minimally invasive), lower extremity revascularization, and varicose vein treatments. He also strongly believes in medical education of the next generation of doctors, he is currently the Vice Chair Undergraduate Education in Surgery ACP and Assistant Dean at Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School.

Dr Chua was the Founding Head of the Department of Vascular Surgery, Singapore General Hospital (SGH) in 2013, the first department of its kind in Singapore. He graduated with MBBS from the National University of Singapore and was awarded the Singapore NMRC Fellowship Training Award in 2001, and obtained his MHSc in Clinical Research in 2003 at Duke University School of Medicine. In 2008, he obtained Specialty Accreditation from the MOH Singapore and became a Fellow of The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. In 2009, Dr Chua was awarded the MOH - NHG HMDP Award to train in Advanced Endovascular Surgery in Melbourne, Australia as a Honorary Clinical Fellow in Vascular Surgery focusing on advanced aortic stent grafts and peripheral arterial disease.

Dr Dharmaraj Rajesh Babu graduated from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science in 2004. He also spent a year as Specialist Senior Registrar and gained valuable experience in Vascular Surgery at Christchurch Hospital, New Zealand. He was then appointed Consultant of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, Department of Cardiac, Thoracic and Vascular Surgery, National University Heart Centre, Singapore. He graduated in Medicine from the University of Glasgow in 2003 and became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in 2006. Following his return to Singapore, he continued postgraduate surgical training by attaining the Master of Medicine (Surgery) and commenced Advanced Specialty Training in General Surgery in 2007.

Dr Vijayan graduated from The University of Bristol, UK in 1996 and underwent Basic Surgical Training at the Bristol Royal Infirmary. After 2 years in research, he was accepted on the South-Western Surgical Rotation as a Higher Surgical Trainee with a subspecialty interest in vascular surgery. He successfully completed his exit exam in 2009 and was entered on to the Specialist Accreditation Board. He subsequently spent 4 years in the Royal Perth Hospital, Western Australia as a locum Consultant Vascular Surgeon before coming to Singapore and joining Ng Teng Fong General Hospital as one of the founding consultants of the Vascular Surgery Service. He has a large and busy clinical practice covering all aspects of vascular surgery with subspecialty interests in lower limb salvage, renal vascular access, aortic, carotid and venous surgery. He is also the Director of the Vascular Diagnostic Laboratory. He has a passion for education and he is the undergraduate lead for surgery, an Adjunct Professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and faculty for the NUHS Surgical Residency program. He completed his medical and specialist training (CCST) in the academic unit in South Manchester University hospital, UK and was an established NHS Consultant General and Vascular surgeon (University Hospital of North Staffordshire & Nuffield Hospital) before coming back to Singapore 10 years ago. He had also completed a visiting fellowship at Kings College Hospital Diabetic Foot Clinic (London).

He serves on the board of the Chapter of General Surgeons, College of Surgeons (Singapore) and is currently the Secretary for the Society for Vascular and Endovascular Surgeons of Singapore. He is a clinical lecturer for NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and has won more than 11 teaching awards since 2011.
